Countdown for the 3rd International Yeditepe Biennial: Artists Kılıç and Kıymaz are preparing the work ‘Hâb’ in Nuruosmaniye Mosque Cellar

As part of the 3rd International Yeditepe Biennial, artists Zehra Nur Kılıç and Ceyda Ece Kıymaz's installation titled ‘Hâb’ is set to meet art lovers in the Nuruosmaniye Mosque Cellar. This work, in which darkness and light are intertwined, visualises the unknowns in the human mind.

While the preparations for the 3rd International Yeditepe Biennial are in full swing, Hâb, one of the most striking installations of the biennial, is presented to the audience at the Nuruosmaniye Mosque Cellar. The work, which is a collaboration between artists Zehra Nur Kılıç and Ceyda Ece Kıymaz, is among the key works of the biennial in terms of both the use of materials and its relationship with the venue.

The installation, which consists of network structures made of metal and coloured stained glass windows placed inside them, focuses on the interaction between darkness and light. The diffusion of light through the glass windows, combined with the historical atmosphere of Nuruosmaniye, offers the viewer an impressive visual experience. With this installation, the artists aim to describe the mental journey of man, his existence in uncertainties and the transitions in his inner world in an abstract language.

Nuruosmaniye Mosque Cellar, where the work is exhibited, gives a special meaning to this work with its historical and architectural structure. The 18th century mosque, one of the most important works of Ottoman architecture, offers both a functional and artistic venue with its cellars, allowing today's artists to create different narratives. Hâb is an example of the interpretation of contemporary art within the historical texture of the venue.

Art lovers can visit this special installation exhibited within the scope of Yeditepe Biennial on the specified dates. The Biennial's programme, enriched with artists from different disciplines, continues to bring together Istanbul's cultural heritage and contemporary approaches to art.
