Having built as the outer court of Topkapı Palace, the park had been used as wood and rose garden for long years. The park, which had been an entertainment and recreation center for the Ottoman family in the Classical periods of Ottoman Emperor, meaning the years when the Padisahs had just started to use the Topkapı Palace, was started to be used less with the moving of palace to the Beşiktaş side. Imperial Edict of Gülhane (Tanzimat Fermanı) was read in this park. It was opened to public after it was reorganized by Cemil Topuzlu in 192XXX. The park that was used in the Republican years by protecting its structure had been the first place where Mustafa Kemal introduced the alphabet reform to public. Likewise, the last ceremony organized in Istanbul after Mustafa Kemal passed away was made here before his body was carried to Ankara. Gülhane Park, which is an entertainment and recreational center still serving the public and which was functioned as zoo for long years, will host the performance of Reza Hemmatirat where he will produce miniature paintings alive.
