Abdurrahim Kahya was born in 1986. He memorized the Quran in Turkey’s central province of Konya in 2000. He started practicing the calligraphy styles of thuluth and naskh with Mustafa Parıldar and Abdurrahman Depeler in 2005. He started his training at Selçuk University’s calligraphy department of the Fine Arts Faculty in 2006 and here practiced the riq’a, diwani and jali diwani styles with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fatih Özkafa and graduated in 2010. He tries to benefit from the knowledge of Davut Bektaş, Mehmet Özçay and Osman Özçay when he is in Istanbul. He came in third in the category of jali thuluth at the “Seven Hills Seven Arts” International Istanbul Classical Arts Competition in 2015. He also ranked second in the calligraphy competition organized within the scope of the 2015 Halil İbrahim Meetings. He was awarded third prize at the Second Balıkesir Traditional Arts Competition in 2017. He also came in second in the International Albaraka Calligraphy competition in 2018. He has been working as an imam at the Konya-Selçuklu Mufti Office since 2007.
