In 1988, he graduated from the traditional Turkish Handicrafts Department of Mimar Sinan University Faculty of Fine Arts.
In 1989, his master's thesis titled ‘‘The pages of the Holy Qur'an in the classical era’ was published and in 1996, and his master's thesis titled ‘‘The Turkish Nesalik School’ was published. He got license from Prof. Dr. Ali Alparslan on Rik'a, Divani, Celi Divani and Ta’li and from Calligrapher Hüseyin Kutlu on Sülüs-Naskh.
He received awards in international competitions. His articles were published in various publications.
He has books about inscriptions and tombstones; books about calligraphy, illuminated manuscript and skin arts. He participated in national and international exhibitions and symposiums.
In 1996, he started his academic life at the Traditional Turkish Arts Department of Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University Faculty of Fine Arts and he has been serving at the same faculty so far.
