Johangir Ashurov

Johangir Ashurov

Born in 1974 in Bukhara, the Uzbek miniature artist Jahongir Ashurov (Cihangir Ashurov) completed his education in 1988 at the Benkov Art School in Taşkent in 1992 and continued to work under the supervision of miniature masters Shahmahmud Muhammadjanov andFahriddin Rahmetullayev.

Inspired by stories from the oral tradition, the artist has been working in this field for 20 years, producing works on the deep philosophical and human perspective of these stories. Continuing the Central Asian tradition, Jahongir Ashurov says that Mehmet Black Pen follows the Behzad style, which minimizes the use of objects and colors as much as possible.

His works were exhibited in institutions such as the British Museum and Victoria and Albert Museum and in private collections in the USA, Europe, Turkey and Mongolia.
