Nilgün Alp was born in 1965 in Uşak and graduated from Gazi University Faculty of Engineering and Architecture in 1987. Between 1987 and 1999, with the support of the artist Selma Başçı, who made free architecture, she participated in the Turkish ornamentation Arts illuminated manuscript course organized by the Ministry of Culture in 1999. Mrs. Alp received illuminated manuscript lessons from Memnune Birkan and graduated here in 2001. She continued to take workshops until 2010.
In 2003, the Ministry of Culture awarded the prize for her exhibition Esma-ül Hüsna (The names of Allah, the Almighty) within the 12th State Turkish Decorating Arts illuminated Manuscript Contest. Between 2003 and2005, she conducted research and reproductions in Ankara Land Registry General Directorate, Konya Mevlana Museum, Yusuf Aga Library and regional writing works library. She worked at the Undersecretariat of Treasury and foreign trade in Ankara in 2007. Since 2006 in Uşak, 2008 in the Ministry of culture's illuminated manuscript courses and the selective Committee, since 2010 İlkem Şahin's Social Responsibility project at the workshop, and from 2016 the governor of Kars initiated the training project of Turkish ornamental Arts educators in the project continues to work on the illuminated manuscript.
Some of Nilgün Alp's works are exhibited in many exhibitions organized in Turkey at Presidential collection, Malaysian Prime Ministry collection and Ankara governorship collection.
