Preparations for the 3rd Yeditepe Biennial Continue: Architecture Students Build Their Own Works in the Nuruosmaniye Cellar

Our preparations for the 3rd Yeditepe Biennial continue at full speed.

The exhibition, to be held at the Nuruosmaniye Cellar, will host the works of 11 students from the Faculty of Architecture at Istanbul Bilgi University. Under the guidance of instructor Nil Aynalı, the students worked throughout the semester in Nuruosmaniye, designing experience-oriented installations for eight distinct spaces within the cellar. These site-specific works are being implemented directly by the students themselves in the cellar. By providing this opportunity, the Biennial allows architecture and interior design students to execute their first realized projects while also giving them the chance to experiment artistically. In this process, the cellar transforms into a workshop space that incorporates the dynamic nature of art into the educational process.

Thanks to this structure, where the spirit of the Biennial injects dynamism into the educational process and the academic environment enriches the Biennial with its own discussions, the 3rd Yeditepe Biennial evolves beyond being merely an exhibition. It becomes a platform that supports the growth of young artists and designers, highlighting that artistic production is not just a product-oriented practice but also an active process of creation and learning. This approach has garnered great appreciation from both art enthusiasts and academic circles. Additionally, the unique atmosphere created by blending the historical texture of the cellar with innovative art pieces ensures that the Nuruosmaniye Mosque Cellar holds a distinctive place in the memory of the Biennial.
