Ayşe Sayın

Born in 1987 in Istanbul, Ayşe Sayın started her illumination classes with Ayşenur Kadakçı Velioğlu at the History and Islam Research Foundation in 2002. She continued her education at the Classical Turkish Arts Foundation between 2008-2012 and after graduating from Ayşenur Kadakçı Velioğlu's workshop, she worked as her teacher's assistant for a while.

In 2017, she graduated from Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakıf University, Department of Traditional Turkish Arts (calligraphy major and illumination minor). During her undergraduate education, she took lessons from Davut Bektaş, Ali Toy and Mustafa Çelebi. After graduation, with the encouragement of her teacher Davut Bektaş, she received her ijazah (authorisation) for thuluth script.

In 2020, she completed her master's degree at Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakıf University, Institute of Graduate Education, Traditional Turkish Arts Programme with the thesis titled "Cloud in Illumination Art (Artwork Text)" [Tezhip Sanatında Bulut (Eser Metni)] under the supervision of Mustafa Çelebi. Between 2019-2021, she gave illumination classes at Mustafa Çelebi Art Workshop.

In 2021, she started the Traditional Turkish Arts Proficiency in Art programme at the same university and pursues her studies.
