Born in 1972 in Kütahya, Betül Aşlı Bayram graduated from Dumlupınar University Kütahya Vocational School Ceramics Department and received pedagogical formation at the Faculty of Education. Her interest in tile art deepened with the lessons she took from masters such as Dr. Faruk Kahraman Şahin during her education. Bayram, which aims to keep our traditional arts alive and to establish a cultural bond between Türkiye and the Netherlands, is happy to blend the two cultures. She was awarded the title of Tile Artist by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Türkiye and received the Artist Identity Card. After graduating, Betül Aşlı Bayram worked as a graphic designer at Kütahya Porselen and gained significant experience in areas such as pattern design and screen printing.
The artist continues to promote Turkish culture by giving Turkish lessons at Leiden Volksuniversiteit in the Netherlands. She took part in national and international exhibitions on her artistic journey from Izmir to Amsterdam. In addition to the ‘Dumlupınar 1922 on the Threshold of Independence’ (“Kurtuluşun Eşiğinde Dumlupınar 1922”) exhibitions held in Kütahya, Kastamonu and Bursa, she shared the story of tile art with her solo exhibition ‘Traditional Turkish Tile Art’ (“Geleneksel Türk Çini Sanatı”) at the Yunus Emre Institute in Amsterdam. She has also participated with her works in the exhibitions “International Women's Group Exhibition“(“Uluslararası Kadınlar Karma Sergisi”) and”On the Way to Porcelain-Blue and White" (“Porselene Giden Yolda-Mavi ve Beyaz”).
Bayram, who aims to bring the art of tile art to a wider audience with her workshops and exhibitions, considers tile as a cultural heritage and storytelling tool.
