Prof. Fatih Özkafa was born in Konya in 1974 and graduated from Selçuk University, Department of Public Administration in 1996. In 2021, he graduated from Istanbul University, Department of Philosophy with honours. In 1994, he started to take calligraphy lessons from Calligrapher Dr. Hüseyin Öksüz and learnt ruqah, thuluth, naskh, diwani, jali diwani and taliq calligraphy. He was granted the ijazah (authorisation) for thuluth-naskh in 2022 and for taliq in 2022. He continued his academic career with a PhD in the Department of Art History.
In 2005, he started to work as a research assistant at Selçuk University Faculty of Fine Arts, and he was appointed as assistant professor in 2009 and associate professor in 2013. In 2016, he was appointed to Marmara University Faculty of Theology and in the same year he started teaching calligraphy at Albaraka Art Academy. In 2020, he was given the title of professor at Marmara University, and in 2021 he was appointed as the President of the History of Islamic Arts Association.
The works of the artist are included in many collections in Türkiye and abroad, and he won an award in 2021 for his book "Yâ Hazret-i Pîr". Özkafa, who won awards in competitions of institutions such as IRCICA and Albaraka, has worked in international Mushaf Meetings and served as a consultant. The artist, who is interested in fields such as Sufism, philosophy, literature and cinema, continues his works in Istanbul.
