He was born in 1965 in Çorlu. He graduated from Mimar Sinan University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Traditional Turkish Handicrafts in 1992 - 1993 academic year. In August 1998, he was appointed as a Research Assistant at Mimar Sinan University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Traditional Turkish Handicrafts, Art Major of Classical Bookbinding. He took the courses "Islamic Bookbinding" from lecturers Islam SEÇEN and "Pathology of Manuscripts" and "Protection and Repair of Manuscripts" from Saadet GAZİ and worked as an assistant for these courses. In May 2002, he completed his master's degree at Mimar Sinan University, Institute of Social Sciences, Department of Traditional Turkish Handicrafts, Bookbinding Programme with his thesis titled ‘Examples of Bookbinding Art of the 13th and 14th centuries in Süleymaniye Library’ (“Süleymaniye Kütüphanesi’ndeki 13. ve 14.yy’lara ait Cilt Sanatı Örnekleri”). In 2015, he was appointed as a permanent lecturer at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, Vocational School of Architectural Restoration Programme. Currently, he teaches at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Traditional Turkish Arts, Bookbinding Programme at undergraduate and graduate level.
