Kasra Karkazi, born in 1992, is a calligrapher and style innovator in Iranian calligraphy. He has achieved high honours in the fields of Nastaliq and Shikasta Nastaliq.
During his educational career, he studied at Khajeh Nasir al-Din Tusi University, Tehran University of Medical Sciences and Allameh Tabatabai University and gained teaching experience in these institutions.
Among the prominent projects in his artistic career, he is recognised as the founder and innovator of the "Navangar" project, which combines music and Iranian calligraphy. In recent years, he has collaborated with many singers and produced works in different fields. In 2018, he held the first calligraphy performance in Iran, during which he performed for two nights accompanied by the vocal performance of Mr Mohammad Mo'tamedi.
His calligraphy works have been sold internationally in various cities around the world and have been exhibited in Dallas, Santa Fe, Houston, Stockholm, London, Paris, Los Angeles, Amsterdam and Dubai. He is also the author of the calligraphy book "Khandani Benvis", which was published in 2017 and sold 80,000 copies.
Among the exhibitions in which the artist participated are "Keresheme-ye Ghalam" in Tehran in 2016, "Gahvare-ye Tamaddon" in Minsk in 2019 and "Sabuy-e Raz" in Shiraz in 2023. He also organised a series of calligraphy workshops in Dubai in 2018.
In 2022, Kasra Karkazi was selected as Iran's Best Young Visual Artist and since 2016 he has been the Director of the Farmanieh Branch of the Iranian Calligraphers Association.
