Nuria Garcia Masip

She is a PhD candidate in Art History at the Sorbonne University and a professional calligrapher. She continued her calligraphy studies under master calligraphers such as Mohamed Zakariya in Washington D.C., Hasan Çelebi and Davut Bektaş in Istanbul. After seven years of training, in 2007, she received an ijazah (authorisation) in the thuluth and naskh writing styles, which bear the signatures of three of her teachers. Since then, she has won prestigious awards in international calligraphy competitions, organised many workshops and conferences to promote this art and her works have been exhibited in various private collections and museums. Her work is firmly rooted in the classical school of calligraphy and she takes great pleasure in preserving the techniques and materials of the tradition.
