Nursan Güven

She was born in 1961 in İnegöl. She completed her primary, secondary and high school education in İnegöl. In 1982, after marrying Adil Can Güven, they opened their workshops in İnegöl in 1983 upon the will of Abdurrahman Özer, the master of her husband. Here, they started to research and revive the traditional Anatolian tile and ceramic making techniques together with their form, pattern, material and philosophy. She contributed to the revival of these ceramics by conducting extensive research and experiments, especially on the early Ottoman ceramics of Iznik.

In 1991, she opened the first exhibition of the workshop in Iznik Archaeological Museum. This exhibition was the first tile and ceramic exhibition in Iznik. Afterwards, she participated in many solo and group exhibitions, fairs and events in İnegöl, Bursa, Istanbul and Ankara. Among her prominent participations are the opening exhibitions of Bursa City Museum and İnegöl City Museum, the International Handicrafts Events of the Ministry of Culture within the scope of Istanbul Capital of Culture activities in 2010 and the World Ceramic Artists Group Exhibition in Japan.

In 2001, the works performed in the workshop was certified as ceramic art by the Ministry of Culture. In 2011, she was registered as an artist for traditional arts by the General Directorate of Research and Education of the Ministry of Culture. In addition to her sons Rauf Sadi Güven and Cem Güven, who grew up in the workshop, she passes on her knowledge and experience to many students.
