Rumeysa Zeynep Kurtuluş

Born in Istanbul, she is a calligraphy artist, educator and master architect.

She completed her Bachelor's degree in Architecture at Gebze Technical University in 2017 and her Master's degree in Architecture at Yıldız Technical University in 2022, focusing on the interpretation and presentation of cultural heritage sites. Since 2016, she attended the calligraphy classes of Erhan Olcay, her teacher.

Her calligraphy journey was further enriched by attending the workshops of renowned artists such as Denis Brown, Yves Leterme, Ewan Clayton and Luca Barcellona. She received a certificate in advanced italic calligraphy from the Calligraphy and Lettering Art Society (CLAS) in London. From November 2020 to April 2022, she worked as a digital calligraphy artist at Hong Kong-based Echko Limited, designing custom signatures and logos.

Her artworks have been exhibited in numerous national and international exhibitions. Since 2018, she has been sharing her knowledge as a lecturer and instructor, teaching calligraphy and architectural sketching at various institutions and universities. She is the project coordinator of the international writing culture event Calligraphist.

In 2024, she won a scholarship from the Dancing Letters Fund to attend the Roman Holiday, the Calligraphy and Lettering Arts Conference at St. Ambrose University, where she was taught by John Stevens. She is currently doing her doctorate at Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakıf University, Department of Graphic Design. She continues to work in her workshop Kebikeç, where she continues to explore the art of calligraphy.
