Tahsin Kurt

Born in 1965 in Van, Turkey, and a high school graduate, Tahsin Kurt retired from Hayrat Neşriyat Printing House. In 1987, he began learning Nesh Ta'lik calligraphy under the tutelage of Prof. Dr. Ali Alparslan. Following these lessons, he received his certification (icazet) in Nesh Ta'lik calligraphy in 1991. In 1994, he started taking Sülüs calligraphy lessons from Hattat Hüseyin Kutlu and completed them in 2001, earning his certification in Sülüs as well.

In 1997, he received honorable mentions in the categories of Nesh Ta'lik and Celi Ta'lik at the International Calligraphy Competition organized by IRCICA. In 1999 and 2001, he was awarded success prizes in the Ta'lik category at the State Calligraphy Competitions organized by the Ministry of Culture. He won first place in the Celi Ta'lik category at the Albaraka Türk Calligraphy Competition in 2005 and second place in the same category in the 2008 Albaraka Türk Calligraphy Competition.

With works showcased in private collections and participation in numerous exhibitions across Turkey, Kurt continues to work on calligraphy.
