Yasemin Demir was born in Ankara and completed her primary and secondary education in her hometown. In 2018, she started Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakıf University Traditional Turkish Arts Department, where she started her education in 2018 and graduated in 2022 with illumination major and calligraphy minor.
Between 2006-2008, she took charcoal and oil painting lessons from Füsun Güleşen in Ankara. She started her illumination training with Arda Çakmak at Istanbul Classical Turkish Arts Foundation in 2011 and completed it with Asiye Kafalıer Dönmez in 2014. She took scientific botanical illustration courses from Hülya Korkmaz at the same foundation. In 2017, she received training in geometric pattern analysis in Islamic art from Prof. Miroslaw Majewski. In 2019, she participated in Hülya Korkmaz's long-term scientific botanical painting programme at the Nezahat Gökyiğit Foundation.
She received her illumination education at the university from Dr. Faculty Member Mustafa Nasuhi Çelebi and Dr. Faculty Member Nihal Aracı, and she took maqıli script lessons from Calligrapher Ali Toy within the scope of her minor education. Since 2013, she has been involved as a plant artist in the ‘Illustrated Encyclopaedia of the Flora of Türkiye’ (“Resimli Türkiye Florası Ansiklopedisi”) project under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye. The artist, whose works are in domestic and foreign collections, has been teaching illumination and scientific botanical drawing since 2016. She currently teaches scientific botanical drawing at Istanbul Classical Turkish Arts Foundation and continues her master's degree at FSMVÜ.
